OVERVIEW OF JOB DESCRIPTION:
Must be licensed and able to teach all subjects with proficiency in literacy and mathematics, as well as develop and provide specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities. Evaluate and assess student progress against instructional objectives, follow State mandated due process procedures, and function as IEP Manager to assigned students. Responsible for the efficient management, operation and success of the assigned classroom under the direction of supervisors. Ensure that physical and safety procedures are followed at all times, that any security and safety related concerns are promptly reported and handled in compliance with the school’s guidelines. Promote a positive, enthusiastic learning environment with harmonious educational relationship among students. Ensure that the approved school’s curriculum unfolds as agreed, and any changes are approved before implementation. Encourage students to develop and apply new skills in order to contribute to the efficiency of the learning process and to maintain an active and positive presence with well-mannered and respectable behavior inside and outside the school environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides inclusive, nurturing environment, free from bullying and harassment

Manages instructional time to maximize time on task in each subject

Sets clear expectations for classroom decorum, curriculum and dress code

Provides fun, interactive, engaging lessons

Plans lessons and submits weekly

Posts Homework on School website

Maintains Jupiter account for reporting tests, behavior, and report cards to parents

Ongoing parent outreach

Differentiates instruction; process, product, and content, in order to meet the needs of all learners both struggling and advanced
-
Identifies and plans for learning differences and styles
-
Meets regularly in Professional Learning Communities to assess data and trends, and revises plans to reteach and provide enrichment accordingly

Provides Academic Interventions where appropriate

Attends all team meetings
-
Provides research-based specialized instruction to ensure all IEP goals are met
-
Assesses student progress and determines the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques
-
Employs carious teaching techniques, methods and principles of learning to enable students to meet their IEP goals
-
Develops and implements annual Individualized Educational Program (IEP) plans for students to include: present levels of educational performance, special education needs, instructional goals and objectives, and the special education and related services required to meet those goals

Articulates regularly with Special Education teachers and prepares all Teacher Reports as required

Keeps accurate records, files, and reports, and completes all required paperwork within the designated timeline

Collaborates and consults with educational professionals and community service providers (i.e.,social services, public health, medical providers etc.) regarding the needs of students.

Maintains a clean, orderly classroom that is organized and child-friendly, with an organized system for distribution of materials and supplies

Displays student work

Consistent attendance and punctuality

Ensures the safety of students

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of special education and specialty area

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with situations that requires prompt actions

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Certification required
Bachelor of Arts or higher
Minimum of 3 years of experience
LANGUAGE SKILL
The ability to communicate in Spanish or other languages beneficial
